Virtual Class: Career Goals - Leveling Up

This group offers support and guidance for actors as they evolve their careers. Do you know how to market yourself and what your unique attributes are? Are your materials a reflection of your talents? Do you need representation, or to change your representation? Led by Gigi Bermingham, company member and career mentor, CAREER GOALS - LEVELING UP offers practical insights, encouragement and accountability.

TOPICS OF FOCUS

  • Development and improvement of the actor's marketing tools: headshots, resume, footage for Actors Access profile & other sites
  • Representation - how to get it /how to evolve the relationship with one's agents, whether a manager is needed
  • Self-taping - creating quality auditions
  • Developing professional relationships
  • Employment onstage and on-camera - what to expect in the work environment
  • Branding - identifying one's distinctive essence for casting purposes

Meets weekly on Zoom; 8 students maximum.
Actors set individual goals at the first class. Each week students receive an equal amount of time to share their accomplishments and challenges, to receive feedback and encouragement. Actors leave each meeting with a task list for the week. Confidentiality is expected from all who participate.

About Gigi Bermingham

Favorite roles include Rosemary in Picnic, Betty/Edward in Cloud 9, and most recently Amanda Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie, all at Antaeus Company; and Maria Callas in Master Class (2013 L.A. Stage Alliance Ovation Award for Leading Actress) and Judy Garland in End of the Rainbow, both at International City Theatre. For her solo comedy Non-Vital Organs, Gigi received the L.A. Drama Critics Circle Natalie Schafer Award and an Ovation for Solo Performance. She also directs, most recently The Importance of Being Earnest at Antaeus.
