ACADEMY 2026: Scene Study: The Shaw Intensive

This Academy class is open to everyone—from theater enthusiasts and newcomers to seasoned actors looking to deepen their understanding.
Scene Study: The Shaw Intensive
Back by popular demand! This 8-week scene study class will give you the opportunity to work in depth on material from George Bernard Shaw, one of the greatest playwrights in the English language. And what delight he finds in that language! His plays demand verbal dexterity along with mental agility, wit, intelligence, emotional engagement, and a passionate devotion to ideas.
We will work on developing the technical mastery Shaw requires, along with the deeply human commitment you may be surprised to find in this writer of ideas. These are the very things that make for strong, flexible, generous actors in any medium. And it will be FUN!!
For the fifth class on October 14th, we will meet for an 8pm performance of Heartbreak House, included with the cost of the class.

About Geoffrey Wade
Geoffrey has been teaching at the ANTAEUS Academy since 2003, and guest moderated at schools including USC, Kent State, UCI, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He has performed on Broadway, played Snape in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, done National Tours and worked extensively in regional theater, most recently in BRIGADOON at Pasadena Playhouse. Others include SCR (Little Shop...), La Jolla, Rep Theatre of St. Louis, Baltimore Center Stage, Guthrie, Denver Center, Cincinnati Playhouse, The Old Globe, and a long association with Vermont’s Weston Theater Company. LA work includes La Mirada, Odyssey, and The Winter’s Tale, Autumn Garden, and The Malcontent at ANTAEUS. He works in television (NCIS, Mad Men, Mentalist, Numb3rs, “ER,” four Law & Orders…), radio, and films such as Steven Spielberg’s The BFG. He directed acclaimed productions of A Walk in the Woods and The Crucible. Trained at Central in London.
