Scene Study: Acting Heightened Language:
Shakespeare, Shaw, Wilde, and Wilson
An acting technique class focusing on how to act the literature by great dramatists William Shakespeare, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde and August Wilson. We will study the technical precision performing the works of these writers demands - exploring text analysis and exercises designed to unlock bold vocal and physical choices. In collaboration with this masterful language, characters reveal themselves and drama emerges. This will be a workout for all aspects of your instrument!
For First Class: Please choose a monologue from one of the playwrights we are studying, and bring a double-spaced copy of the text to class. We will start from scratch, so please don’t prep to perform it! Dress comfortably; there won’t be anything overly strenuous, but we’ll be moving around some!
