A two time Ovation Award nominee, with over 40 years professional experience in all levels of the Theater discipline, Ms. McClain has performed in numerous films, with several recurring and guest starring roles. Besides her numerous commercials and film credits, she has had recurring roles on such diverse fare as Hart of Dixie, Ed, Third Watch, As The World Turns and Another World; guest starred on Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU, LA Law, The Jury, Wonderland, City Guys, King, Criminal Justice, Third Watch, Strong Medicine, Related, Dirt, The Medium, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, Grey’s Anatomy, The Last Tycoon, Craig of the Creek. Her stage credits on and off Broadway include Seven Guitars, Bubbling Brown Sugar, The Colored Museum, Pericles, Zooman and the Sign, For Colored Girls… Regional: Raisin in the Sun, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Look Homeward Angel, Oklahoma!, Queenie Pie, Stop-Kiss, Romeo and Juliet, All’s Well That Ends Well, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, From the Mississippi Delta, Joe Turners Come and Gone, Wedding Band, Porgy and Bess, A Raisin in the Sun. She has performed at such notable theaters as Kennedy Center, The Shakespeare Theatre in D.C., Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Alliance Theatre, Alley Theatre, Philadelphia Drama Guild, Two River Theatre, Musical Theatre West, Syracuse Stage, McCarter Theatre, A.R.T., Spoleto Festival, New York Shakespeare Theatre, 2nd Stage, N.E.C., New Federal Theatre, Classic Theatre Company, Hudson Guild, Billie Holiday Theatre, Coconut Grove, A Noise Within, Antaeus Theatre Company, A Noise Within. Last season, Ms. McClain directed Dancing Lessons at Ensemble Theatre Company in Santa Barbara, Crumbs from the Table of Joy at Pomona College and The Colored Museum at Cal Lutheran University. Bee-luther-hatchee at CSU-Fullerton, Oh Freedom at Main St. Theatre and Bee-Luther-Hatchee at Sierra Madre Playhouse, Breath and Imagination at Virginia Stage and the Colony Theatre, which received numerous Ovation and NAACP Theatre nominations and awards; Other directorial credits: Prayerville, Intimate Apparel, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, The Fantasticks, In the Continuum, Spunk, Electra, The Women of Plums, Death of a Salesman, Antigone, Dark of the Moon, A Modest Proposal, Harriet’s Return, Flyin’ West and What I Learned in Paris, The Colored Museum and For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.
Currently, she is seeking her MFA at CSU Fullerton.
