TITLE: Overhire Carpenter 

STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt 

DEPARTMENT: Production 

REPORTS TO: Technical Director 

POSITION AVAILABLE: Ongoing, Seasonal 

COMPENSATION RANGE: $22-24/hr 


BACKGROUND 

Antaeus Theatre Company is an actor-driven theater company that explores and produces timely and timeless works grounded in our passion for the Classics. We illuminate diverse human experiences through performance, training, and outreach. We believe in the transformative power of live theater. 

Antaeus is located at the Kiki & David Gindler Performing Arts Center in Downtown Glendale, CA. The center includes an 80-seat theater, a reconfigurable 36-seat black box space, and a theater library. 


THE POSITION 

Antaeus Theatre Company seeks candidates for part-time Overhire Carpenter. This position is responsible for assisting with set construction, assembly, and maintenance. This position will be part-time and project-based as needed during productions. Approximately 10-20 hours a week during productions. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

● Install scenery on stage and complete scenic notes during the load-in, tech, and preview process. 

● Construct scenic elements out of wood, metal, and other materials. 

● Move scenery, lumber, and other items and materials around the theater.

● Must be comfortable climbing ladders and using tools on ladders 

● Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment by putting away tools and equipment after use, organizing materials and equipment, sweeping up dust and debris, and other related tasks.

● Maintain and promote a safe work environment by following safety regulations and alerting a supervisor of any safety issues. 

● Other duties as assigned 


EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS 

● Have a basic understanding with power and hand tools and how to work with them safely. 

● Be willing to learn and adapt to theatrical terminology for ease of communication.

● Able to communicate and collaborate with people across differences such as race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, and class. 

● Work a flexible schedule with advanced notice, including morning, evening, and weekend hours. 

● Required Certifications (employer reimbursed): CPR/First Aid/AED, OSHA, Sexual Harassment, and other job related trainings required by the employer.

TITLE: Master Electrician 

STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt 

DEPARTMENT: Production 

REPORTS TO: Technical Director 

POSITION AVAILABLE: Ongoing, Seasonal 

COMPENSATION RANGE: $28-$30/hr

THE POSITION 

Antaeus Theatre Company seeking a candidate for a part-time, seasonal Master Electrician. This position is responsible for overseeing Light Hang, Circuiting, Focus, Patching and Programming the Light Plot for each Antaeus Main Stage shows and Black Box events. Troubleshooting lighting instruments, hanging and organizing electrical cabling, and assembly and maintenance of theatrical lighting instruments. This position will be part-time and seasonal as needed during productions. Ability to troubleshoot pre-show issues over the phone with the production team as needed. Collaborate with the Technical Director on schedule, lighting issues, and production related needs. Respond to Lighting Designer requests. Approximately 10-20 hours a week during production Load-in and Tech weeks.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

● Oversees hang, circuit, focus and troubleshoot theatrical lighting equipment, including conventional, LED, and practical fixtures. 

● Troubleshooting and programming with an ETC ION 3000 Lighting consul.

● Circuiting a dual system of LED and Incandescent lights on a dimmer rack system.

● Install set and prop-mounted lights and wire practicals. Place cue, running, and work lights. 

● Communicate and collaborate with the technical director on schedule, lighting notes, and lighting designer requests. 

● Clean and maintain lighting equipment, cut gel, and replace lamps. 

● Move equipment and other materials around the theater as needed. 

● Must be comfortable climbing ladders, with and without lighting instruments in hand

● Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment by putting away tools and equipment after use, keeping materials and equipment organized, running power cables neatly, and other related tasks. 

● Maintain and promote a safe work environment by following all safety regulations and alerting a supervisor of safety issues. 


EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS 

● 1-3 years of experience and knowledge of troubleshooting and programming with an ETC ION 3000 Lighting consul. 

● 1-3 years of experience circuiting a dual system of LED lights and Incandescent on a dimmer rack system. 

● Experience safely hanging, circuiting, focusing and troubleshooting theatrical lighting equipment. 

● Have the ability to read and understand light plots and circuiting paperwork.

● Have a basic understanding of electricity and how to work with it safely.

Company Membership:

All actors who meet either of the following criteria will be offered Company membership into Antaeus:

   • Performed in two Antaeus productions, or
   • Performed in one Antaeus production, and two Antaeus-produced readings

Casting:

Casting for productions is by invitation only, with preference given to current Antaeus Company members. We hold an open call to meet potential Guest Artists for future projects.
