Annual Report Highlight

When the shutdown went into effect last March and we were forced to close Measure for Measure, we hoped to be back in time to open William Saroyan’s The Time of Your Life in June. It soon became apparent that returning by summer wouldn’t be possible, and now, as we’re reaching the end of 2020, the theater has been closed for most of the year.

Our team has been working from home throughout the shutdown, and even in this time of social distancing, Antaeus has been keeping busy, launching new initiatives and community activities. Although 2020 certainly wasn’t the year we’d planned, we’re truly grateful for everything the support of this community made possible. As we close out the year, we invite you to join us in looking back on what we’ve accomplished together. Enjoy the highlights below, or take a deeper look by reading our 2020 Annual Report.

Highlights from 2020

  • In January 2020, we presented our second annual LAB RESULTS Festival over two sold-out weekends!
  • In February, directors Armin Shimerman and Elizabeth Swain brought us an unforgettable production of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure.
  • Classic Sundays, our signature monthly reading series of the most beloved classics in the theater canon ran from September 2019 through February 2020.
  • In May, we premiered an online Masterclass series, taught by Armin Shimerman and Dakin Matthews, which attracted participants from around the world!
  • Antaeus Academy classes have continued online throughout the pandemic.
  • This fall, we launched a monthly, theater-themed book club for the Antaeus community. Each month we gather online for a guided discussion of a classic (or “new classic”) play, featuring special guest speakers.
  • Debut of The Zip Code Plays: Los Angeles, a series of audio plays celebrating the culture and history of LA.
  • The Zip Code Plays Tour, interactive walking and audio tours to explore the neighborhoods featured in The Zip Code Plays.

Thank you for helping Antaeus stay strong through 2020. We promise, we’ll be ready and waiting to open our doors when this unplanned intermission finally comes to an end.

We miss you, & we can’t wait to WELCOME YOU BACK!
