We begin with double, triple, even quadruple casting, followed by weeks and sometimes months of table work. And then we dive into the creative process: discovering, investigating, sketching, inventing, advancing, engaging, imagining, owning, stealing, risking, memorizing, rehearsing and performing.

Every other summer Antaeus presents ClassicsFest, where audiences are invited to preview dozens of plays in the middle of the rehearsal process. Presented with sound, lights and a suggestion of scenic and costume elements, ClassicsFest exposes and celebrates the raw materials of craft.

Eight weeks in a row, eight performances a week, ClassicsFest features one full production as its centerpiece along with workshops, readings, cabarets and late night events. Participants include close to 200 actors, directors, designers, students, interns… even a few living playwrights. With a $10 ticket price per event, it's a refreshing, invigorating and affordable summer splash of classics!
