Script Submission Policy
Antaeus was founded as a classical theater company, yet as we have developed and grown over the years, we have also embraced new works with a keen sense of language and enduring themes that might be loosely termed "classical," and that come from a broad range of styles generally taking inspiration from the Classical tradition.
In addition to our developmental readings, past productions which were entirely new works or collaborations with authors on newly revised works include “American Tales,” “Cousin Bette,” “Pera Palas” (a joint production with the Boston Court Theatre), “Peace in Our Time” (Ovation Award for Best Production of a Play), and “The Curse of Oedipus,” adapted by Kenneth Cavender.
In the last few years, Antaeus has created programs specifically targeted towards the development of new work, including our Playwrights Lab.
As a result of these programs, we no longer accept submissions from writers or agents. The previous traditional submissions policy no longer serves our season planning needs, and has set up expectations with playwrights and agents that we cannot meet due to our limited resources as a cooperative actor-member ensemble.
Please know that although we are no longer accepting submissions, we remain committed to fostering new work while remaining dedicated to producing classical theater.
Thank you for your understanding of this policy change.
